Hello and welcome to the MA in Communication and Leadership Studies at Gonzaga.
I am Dr. Heather Crandall, Department Chairperson.
Communication is the fastest growing discipline in the world and our program is global, cross-disciplinary and practical. It is designed for people who want to make a difference in their community and organizational life.
Questions of communication ethics are explored throughout the program. We host a Visiting Scholar-in-Residence each spring to be sure that our students are exposed to the latest cutting edge thinking in the rapidly changing communication landscape. At the same time, we are part of a large historical tradition of Jesuit education that focuses on the development of the whole person creating women and men who become leaders in the field.
Our faculty are among the most respected scholars in the field, and are prepared to guide you into various occupations in the communication professions, including: training and consulting, media industries, college teaching, profit and non-profit organizations or into advanced doctoral studies. Each student in our MA Program is assigned a Professor to act as their Advisor. Over your course of studies, these relationships can become important to your growth as a Master of your field.
I hope you are excited about the curriculum options we offer and that you can see how the courses we offer connect with the possibilities in your future. We are proud of the program's emphasis on global and ethical communication. We offer a twelve credit Certificate in International Media that can be earned concurrently with our master's program, which provides a learning experience and cultural immersion in Italy and Ireland.
As you examine leadership deeply and practice the art and skill of effective communication, you will be better able to positively impact your life and your world. We want to help you on that journey.
