Choose the Path to Advance Your Nursing Career

Gonzaga University offers two specializations online that emphasize development of Nursing Administrators and Nurse Educators, allowing you to tailor your education to meet your personal career goals and aspirations.

Choose from:

  • Nurse Educator Nurse educators work in the classroom and the practice setting, and are responsible for preparing and mentoring current and future generations of nurses. They are the key resource in preparing a nursing workforce that will provide quality health care to meet the needs of our population.

These professionals combine clinical expertise and a passion for teaching into rich and rewarding careers. By becoming a nurse educator, you'll experience the excitement of teaching and learning with students and have a direct impact on the lives of others.

  • Health Systems Leadership In today's health care environments, strong leadership is essential to quality patient care. Administrators must be prepared to deal with the integration of health care delivery systems, technological innovations, an increasingly complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and an increased focus on preventive care.

These professionals can work either as specialists in charge of a specific clinical department or generalists who manage an entire facility or system. As a health care administrator, you'll have the opportunity to experience a broader scope in a vital area of patient care.

Professional Outcomes of the M.S. in Nursing are:

  • Critically examine and deliberatively incorporate theories, advanced knowledge, and current research findings from nursing and other disciplines to advance nursing practice
  • Influence nursing practice and the delivery of safer health care in diverse and complex settings
